120 Collins Street, Melbourne

120 Collins Street is "infused with the drama of a soaring tower rising above the solid masonry plinth of Melbourne's lower-rise boulevard streets...with the sculptures rooftop presenting a distinctive silhouette in the city skyline"

MBAV Excellence in Construction Awards, Judging Panel

The stunning panoramic view across greater Melbourne and Port Phillip Bay is just one of the many distinctive features of 120 Collins Street. This is one of Melbourne's pre-eminent buildings and is the tallest office structure in Australia, standing at 265 metres at the 'Paris end' of Collins Street.

120 Collins Street was constructed by Grocon in the modernist tradition, with features such as the granite façade, central mast and setbacks reflecting the art deco influences of New York's Empire State Building and Chrysler Building.

120 Collins Street also sensitively incorporates two historic buildings, the Uniting Church on the corner of Russell and Collins Streets, and the Professional Chambers building in Collins Street.

Designed by architects in association, Hassell and Daryl Jackson, 120 Collins Street has received a number of national architectural and industry awards. In 1994 the Master Builders Association of Victoria presented Grocon with the coveted office accommodation award and the best practice during construction award.

120 Collins Street is more than an impressive looking building. It provides outstanding office accommodation and facilities across 50 levels to high profile tenants. The floor designs are flexible and deliver efficiency in services and facilities. The basement includes secure parking for more than 300 cars.

Construction on the $219 million tower at 120 Collins Street commenced in 1989 and finished in 1991. Today the major tenants include Standard & Poors, Merrill Lynch and Rio Tinto.
